Things to do with Dad on the Wirral this Father’s Day
It’s that time of year again when it’s time to show Dad how much he means to you, and this usually involves a little day out somewhere. But, if you haven’t quite figured out what to do yet, then fear not! Here’s a few ideas from the Better Food Wirral team for places to take your dad on the Wirral this Father’s day.
- Follow a Real Ale Trail, 10th June
The Wirral Real Ale Trail is relatively new, but has been nothing short of a success. You and your dad can hop on a bus and be driven to 10 of the best pubs on the Wirral. Some of the ales you’ll see have been brewed specifically for the trail! This year the trail is including Heswall and Thorton Hough too – so you’ll really get a taste of what the Wirral has to offer. What makes these pubs and breweries special is that the ale they produce is sourced and brewed right here on the Wirral. You’ll never taste anything like it anywhere else! The Real Ale Trail is happening soon (10th June), so book quickly! For more info and tickets follow this link: http://realale-trails.co.uk/wirral/
- You can always play it simple and spend some quality time with your dad by taking him on a walk
Sometimes the best times are priceless, and sharing a walk together is a great way of getting in some exercise, taking in the scenery, and having a laugh. Check out our post about the best Wirral dog walks. And don’t worry if you do want to stop for a bite to eat – there are plenty of pubs along the way!
- Take him for some quality food at The Manor, Greasby
The Manor is a converted 17th century listed building and prides itself on friendly staff, fantastic service, and great-tasting food. The Manor uses locally sourced produce to create one of the finest dining experiences on the Wirral. If you dine here, you’ll both feel like kings!

- Go on a taste adventure at the Wirral Gin Festival, 15th July
Located in Hulme Hall in the idyllic Port Sunlight, the Wirral Gin Festival celebrates the world’s finest gins. At only £5.80 each to get in (price includes your first G+T!), it’s hard to say no to this event. Better yet – spend the day in Port Sunlight. With a museum and art gallery open, this destination appeals to whatever your dad’s into.

- Go on a real adventure: a Basic Wild Foraging Walk, 26th August
Located at Claremont Farm, this 3-hour course includes a walk through some of the Wirral’s breath-taking scenery where you can both discover edible plants and more. You’ll learn how to forage safely, how to identify which plants are edible and how to cook them. At the end, you’ll put it all together and make herbal teas and food cooked over an open fire!
